CWL is a leading manufacturer of steel wire and wire products. We recognise that our production and distribution activities have an impact upon the environment. CWL is committed to a structured program whereby we look to reduce and/or remove any negative effect upon the environment.
Environmental Improvement Program
CWL’s aim is to constantly improve in all areas including environmental performance. A number of important initiatives support this principle:
Implementation of a formal Environmental Management System to meet the requirements of ISO 14001
Implementation of TS16949
Implementation of the CWL Energy Management Plan
Improve measuring capabilities
Development of a methodology for the waste minimisation audits, including a review of water use, waste disposal options and raw material substitutions
Installation of continuous flow and pH metres on effluent streams
Installation of electro-galvanising line and associated effluent treatment facility
CWL operates within a permit granted by the Environment Agency (EA), which requires the business to monitor all or specified emissions to air, sewers and other disposal (waste), against set maximum limits.
