CWL develops the operational strategy to strengthen presence. 27 September 2007
Further to the 4th June 2007 announcement that Carrington Wire Limited was moving into a 90 day consultation period with regards to the Cardiff operation, Mr Andrew Parker, C.E.O. has today confirmed that the Board has come to a decision to close the Cardiff operation at the end of December 2007, consolidating its UK operations at its facility in Elland West Yorkshire.
“This operational restructuring is necessary for Carrington Wire Limited to strengthen its presence in increasingly competitive markets”. Mr Parker commented, adding that “the objective of Group corporate strategy is to ensure sustainable and profitable growth”.
The single site operation at Elland enables the business to consolidate its experience, skills and efforts, achieving greater effectiveness and efficiencies. Carrington Wire Limited intends to remain active in the sectors in which it currently operates, using the synergies as part of the Severstal-metiz Group of companies.
In terms of ensuring a smooth transfer, Andrew Parker advises that “the business is developing Customer teams that will oversee the Transfer Program, covering all aspects of the business. Customers will be fully briefed throughout the program. Their ongoing confidence in us is our utmost priority and I am confident that customer impact will be minimal”.
Mr Parker expressed “my respect and gratitude for the professional manner in which our Cardiff Colleagues continue to conduct themselves; their knowledge, commitment and work ethic continues to provide a benchmark for the Group.”
